About Us

I am Ness.  I have been making ‘through the lens’ imagery for over 20 years.  My work ethic is simply.  Shoot it through the lens, use minimal post processing thus retaining the authenticity of the image, be meticulous about detail on assignment and meld my professional knowledge with the client’s vision.    My photographic aim is to deliver images to the client with minimal fuss on assignment day and offer a turn around time that will have your imagery to you as quickly as possible.  I strive to foster an ongoing working relationship with all my clients.  I pride myself on having an approachable and communicative persona, being relaxed and easy going with clients and talent.  Let me make your photographic needs easy, furnish imagery that you had imagined and receive service you will want to tell your colleagues about.

madNESS Photography Limited was based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea from 2008 until 2016 (prior to that madNESS  was located on the far south coast of NSW) and has now moved back to Toowoomba, Australia, approximately 1 1/2 hours west of Brisbane.  Toowoomba is Australia’s second largest inland town and is known as the Garden City. madNESS Photography is both a limited PNG company with all relevant documentation and a current Australian registered business.

It can often be a harsh juxtaposition of opposites in Papua New Guinea, which results in many varied working environments and conditions. This, of course, leaves the photographic experiences and opportunities open and the diversity of assignments almost endless. One week madNESS may be photographing 500 items for catalogue work on behalf of an international client, the next can see a flurry of smaller more locally based portfolio portraits being taken, or photographing heavy drilling equipment in a gold mine or being located 3km’s deep into a mountain side under a mine. In 2015 madNESS was the official photographer on the 100 day journey that accompanied the Oil Search sponsored 2015 Pacific Games baton, around all 22 provinces of Papua New Guinea capturing every moment of that epic journey.  Be it photographing complex hand surgery, updating hotel photography for websites, print material, liaising with Government officials in Parliament or conversing with State heads or dignitaries, or volunteering her photographic skills  for her two favourite charities, Buk bilong Pikinini (bukbilongpikinini.org) or PNG Tribal Foundation (pngtribe.org) madNESS is always on the move.  Have camera, will travel.

Ness often describes her profession as her life, not her job or work.  Her passion for the imagery she makes comes from a deep connection to the world around her, a fastidious eye to detail and knowing how to make just about anyone smile and feel at ease when they are in front of her Canon camera.  She often jokes that a large part of her life is keeping people smiling by playing a comedic role. Laughter is the best way to relax clients and this is obvious through her photographs. There are serious sides to the role, of course, and it is a testament to her fortitude that she has been asked to photograph five solemn Anzac Day services at Bomana War Cemetery and an official Australian Armed Services funeral.
